Why Choose Self Defence

Why Chose Martial Arts and Street Self Defence

People choose martial arts for a number of reasons and anyone, male or female any age and ability can be catered for. You may just be looking for an activity that will keep you fit and is more interesting and enjoyable than, for example, the gym or going out running. You may enjoy going running and to the gym but want something to compliment your training and teach you some practical, useful skills at the same time.

Not only will Street Self Defence increase your fitness, balance, strength, flexibility, coordination and self-control but also it can massively increase your self-confidence, especially if you have suffered an attack, are a victim of crime or maybe you just feel scared walking the streets. You may have to deal with the public on a daily basis in confrontational situations varying from slight verbal conflict to full physical attacks. No matter what your motivation is to start martial arts we can offer the very best in street defence and reality training.

Victims of Attacks or Bullying

As our training is reality based we get a lot of people come to us who have been attacked, mugged, threatened or have experienced bullying in the workplace or school and have a lack of confidence. By training with us it will help rebuild lost self-confidence and have great benifits to people who have been victims of crime.
If you or anyone you know suffers from a lack of self-confidence then this may just be what is needed to rebuild some of that lost confidence. Even after a few weeks training we see very positive changes in people that enables them to go places and do things that previously they may have been too scared to do. These could include simple things most take for granted like turning into school or work with confidence or even going out at night for drinks with friends. Sometimes the hardest part of taking this road back to normality is just giving us a call and booking in. Take that step; we'll do the rest!

People in Potentially Violent or Confrontational Jobs

We have a large number of police, social workers, doormen prison wardens, psychiatric support staff etc who come training with us due to the nature of their job. As we specialise in confrontation, conflict management and situation control as well as physical self-defence and restraints, these people find our training is not only helpful in their everyday life but also sometimes life saving when extreme situations occur. Training with us can give you piece of mind and confidence when entering potentially bad situations that you are fully equipped to deal with the unexpected.

Health Professionals

Our Senior Instructor used to work as a health professional so we are able to understand that working in the health profession can sometimes result in doctors, nurses and reception staff being on the end of violent and threatening behaviour. With this in mind we are able to work with health professionals within the constraints they have to work under and enable them to work in a more proactive manner so lessening the risk of assault. If they are confronted with a situation that could potentialy become violent, they are able to learn our fast and effective restraints that are compatable with their work ethos so being proactive for their users. For more information or to contact us today via our 'contact us' page.

Pub and Club Goers

Looking at the problems associated with binge drinking, the increases in alcohol fuelled violent crime and yob culture it seems that anyone who ventures out to the pubs and clubs of Britain is at risk of an attack. The awareness, situation control, pre-fight and in-fight response training that we offer can drastically reduce the chances of you being attacked at all and in the unfortunate event of an attack how to deal with it verbally and as a last resort physically.

Current Martial Artists

As we train in many different styles of martial arts and all our training is based on street situations we get a lot of current martial artists from all backgrounds coming to train with us. This is not only to test their art to see if what they have already learnt is effective but also to adapt what they already know and learn how to apply it to real situations. We also find that many martial arts classes, even in today's world do not teach pre-fight situation control, awareness, physical and verbal defences and pre-emptive striking. All of which are very important skills for dealing with live street situations.

Even if reality training is of little interest to you the diversity of our training and the way we train may well be the step up you are looking for, and could further your ability and enhance your skills as a martial artist.

Children

There is no real minimum age for martial art training. If you can walk and talk you can train! Martial Arts is an activity that children can really enjoy whilst keeping fit and learning valuable skills and techniques.

Women's Self Defence

We get a lot of women training with us because unlike some other traditional martial arts the system we teach is practical and can actually help in an attack situation in the street. All the nasty effective techniques are taught to ensure that you stand a chance against your attacker. As we offer private sessions to individuals or groups of friends there's no need to feel embarrassed joining a class of strangers as the beginner. And as a bonus the training also helps with keeping in shape and keeping fit.
